The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria has developed the following mock hearing to provide information to defendants about the court process. This mock hearing features a defendant who is representing himself in court.
This mock hearing does not represent what will happen in every criminal matter, nor is it a substitute for legal advice. The Magistrates’ Court recommends that defendants get legal advice and, if possible, legal representation in court.
In this mock hearing, the defendant, Sam Thompson, has been charged with driving while license suspended. He has received legal advice and will be pleading guilty. If you are pleading not guilty, you can find further information in the Criminal Matters section of the website.
